Certified Hempcrete Building Workshop – Oslo, February 2026

As part of S3C’s work to accelerate the transition toward regenerative and industrially viable building systems, we are co-organising a certified professional training course in hempcrete construction in Oslo, 23–25 February 2026.

The course is delivered in partnership with Nordic Hemp Building School and leading industry actors such as FiberTech International, Natural State, Oslo Tre, House of Hemp and GrindHeim. It is designed to provide professionals with a solid, practice-based understanding of hempcrete as a scalable construction system, not a niche or experimental material.

Purpose of the course

The workshop addresses a clear gap in the construction sector: the lack of hands-on, technically grounded training in industrial hempcrete systems that are compatible with modern building workflows, prefabrication, and regulatory requirements.

The focus is on:

  • material understanding

  • panel-based prefabrication

  • production logic

  • integration into contemporary construction projects

  • scaling and industrialisation pathways

This is a course structured to support real-world application.

Who the course is for

The course is aimed at professionals working with the built environment, including:

  • architects and architectural practices

  • builders and contractors

  • construction engineers

  • developers and housing companies

  • manufacturers and system suppliers

  • professionals involved in timber and hybrid construction systems

No prior experience with hempcrete is required, but participants are expected to have professional familiarity with construction processes.

Course format

The workshop runs over three days and combines theory and hands-on production:

  • Morning sessions: theory, material science, system logic, regulatory context

  • Afternoon sessions: practical casting of prefabricated hempcrete panels on site

  • Focus on professional workflows and industrial application

  • Lunch and protective equipment included

  • Certificate of completion issued

Lead instructors and expertise

The course is led by internationally recognised experts in hemp-lime construction.

Daniel Daviller, Technical Director of Eco-Materials at Saint-Astier, serves as key speaker. With decades of experience across industrial lime production, hemp-lime system development, and large-scale construction, his work bridges material science, production, and real-world implementation.

The course is delivered by Nordic Hemp Building School, with Peter Holmdahl (House of Hemp) contributing extensive hands-on experience from prefabricated hempcrete systems and built projects across Scandinavia and Europe.

Together, the teaching team represents some of the most established technical competence currently available in hempcrete construction.

Optional study visit

Following the Oslo course, S3C will attend Forum Bois Construction in France and conduct site visits to an ongoing multi-storey hempcrete building project in the Paris region.

Participation in this study visit is optional and arranged separately. It is intended for participants who wish to deepen their understanding of how hempcrete systems are applied at larger scales in active construction projects. Further information will be shared with interested participants.
